Classes
The children attend Class 1 from 2 years upwards, they then move to Class 2 for the academic year prior to them starting school. Both classes are safe, warm and caring environments, allowing the children to explore the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum.
We are housed in a purpose-built building and the facilities include a large central reception and cloakroom area, kitchen, toilets (including a toilet suitable for those with physical disabilities) and hand basin area.
Outside each Class has their own garden with mud kitchen areas and room to run around. Class 2's garden has a climbing frame, play boat, play house, mark making area, sandpit, maths resources, a stage and a "Bug Hotel". Class 1's garden has suitably sized play equipment for the younger children, including a large sandpit and play House. Class 1's garden also has a planting area. Both gardens have water area as well as loose parts for the children to use their imaginations. Our site is totally enclosed by fencing and includes an all weather AstroTurf play area.
When the children arrive there are activities ready for them to participate in, such as, playdough, messy play, construction and small world play. The children also have access to the resources in the classroom and are encouraged to self select. The children have a group singing/story time each session and there is a self service snack bar available.
We are also lucky to be able to provide Forest School sessions for both classes. We have two Forest School Leaders and we go throughout all of the seasons.
We offer children access to the outdoors everyday and have fully equipped gardens to ensure children can access similar opportunities both inside and out. We value the importance of the outdoors in children's learning and for their wellbeing.
As a setting we are fortunate to have highly qualified and experienced practitioners who strive to continue their own learning and development to offer the best opportunities for the children in our care. We are led by the children's interests and the staff team extend children's learning through meaningful moments of teaching.
The children are offered lots of additional activities including woodwork, cake making station, story scribbling, music and movement and yoga.
We have a prescribed curriculum for each Class. The curriculum is flexible and influenced by each individual child's interests and needs. Our Class Curriculums can be viewed below.
