admissions policy
It is our intention to make the Windmill Pre-School genuinely accessible to children and families from all sections of the local community. Children may start at the Windmill Pre-School from 2 years upwards until entry into mainstream education.
- We arrange our waiting list in order of date of birth and we keep a place vacant, if this is financially viable, in order to accommodate emergency admissions.
- Windmill Pre-School welcomes both mothers and fathers, other relations and other carers, including child minders, and people from all cultural, ethnic, religious and social groups, with and without disabilities.
- We monitor the gender and ethnic background of children joining the group to ensure that no accidental discrimination is taking place, and we make our equal opportunities policy widely known.
- Windmill Pre-School aims to be flexible about attendance patterns so as to accommodate the needs of individual children and families.
- We consult local parents to ensure that the Windmill Pre-School goes on meeting the changing needs of the local community.
In situations where the setting has to restrict the number of pupils attending because of a pandemic ie Covid-19, children will be offered places
As follows:
- Children of key workers
- Vulnerable children
- Children who will be transferring to school in September
- By date of birth
funding
The Windmill Pre-School is a registered charity (charity number 276395) and we receive funding to be open 38 weeks a year. Our fees cover only part of our day-to-day running costs. We depend on fundraising for building maintenance and for extra equipment. We therefore rely heavily on active parental support in our fundraising efforts. All our events are good fun and family centered. Plenty of notice is given of the kind of help needed and we try never to ask too much of any one person.
Funding is available the term after the child’s third birthday. A child born on or between:
- 1st April and 31st August is eligible for a free place from 1st September following 3rd birthday
- 1st September and 31st December is eligible for a free place from 1st January following 3rd birthday
- 1st January and 31st March is eligible for a free place from 1st April following 3rd birthday
We do have limited sessions so please be aware that to begin with you may not get all the funded sessions you request.
Extended funding
Windmill Pre-School offers a limited number of places for those who meet the eligibility criteria for extended hours of free child care.
Our hours for this entitlement are;
8.30-3pm Monday- Friday. Please ensure you register within the timeframe otherwise your child will not be eligible for additional funding until the following term.
